Is 2020 going to be the year of Akshay Kumar? Its means seriously! This man is unstoppable and how! Although the superstar is known to have a reputation of releasing multiple movies in a year but little did anyone expect that he would book not one or two but all the celebrated festive holdays (Eid, Diwali, Christmas) next year with some of his biggest movies coming up right from Laxmmi Bomb to Bachchan Pandey to his recently announced period-drama, Prithviraj, the biopic on Prithviraj Chauhan.
While usually it’s either Republic Day or Independence Day that gets associated with Akshay’s films just like how Eid is reserved for Salman Khan, Diwali for Shah Rukh Khan and Christmas by Aamir Khan, 2020 seems to be setting an all new trend with Akshay taking over all the festivals, throughout the year…
Starting from Eid 2020, although initially Akshay’s Sooryavanshi, directed by Rohit Shetty, was going to hit the screens but they pre-poned it to March 27, 2020 to make way for Salman Khan’s Inshallah with Sanjay Leela Bhansali. However, now with Inshallah getting shelved, AK didn’t think twice before booking Eid 2020 for his another film, Laxmmi Bomb – the official remake of Tamil film Kanchana. Salman is yet to make an announcement on which film would he be releasing on Eid in place of Inshallah but with AK calling dibs on Eid first, we wouldn’t be surprised if the Khiladi gets an upper hand.
Then comes the Diwali festive. Now except for last year wherein SRK’s Zero released during Christmas and Aamir’s Thugs Of Hindostan released during Diwali, Shah Rukh fans have usually got a Diwali treat from the star. While we agree SRK has suspciously refrained from announcing a film since almost a year now but even if he wants to come out with a release next year, Akshay has already booked Diwali 2020 for his first ever historical period-drama – Prithviraj. The actor just made an announcement on the occasion of his birthday today.
And finally Christmas 2020, which, despite being booked by Aamir Khan first, for his much ambitious project, Lal Singh Chadha, AK hasn’t spared it either. The actor will be seen releasing his massy entertainer, Bachchan Pandey during Christmas next year. More recently, when AK was quizzed about his box office clash with Aamir next year, he had said, “We have 52 Fridays in a year and even fewer holiday weekends. We make over 200 Hindi films a year while Hollywood releases 40 more and then there’s the South industry and other regional cinema. So, we should be happy if we have two big releases in a week. This year, on the Independence Day weekend we had three, till one bowed out.”
