After the central government passed a bill recently on hiking the penalties of traffic violators, fans are calling out Mahesh Babu’s Bharat Ane Nenu for being the inspiration behind it. Blaming the film, Mahesh Babu and the director Siva Koratala, fans were startled after a rickshaw driver in Gurgaon was fined Rs 32,500 after jumping the red signal.
The effect started in September where the Motor Vehicles (Amendment) Bill was passed by the Parliament last month, approving new penalties that increase up to ten times, depending on the violation. Offenders who violate traffic rules like breaking the traffic signal or using your mobile phone while driving could be fined up to Rs 5000. Besides this, not wearing a helmet or a seatbelt can attract fines up to 1000.
Mahesh Babu’s Bharat Ane Nenu revolves around the story of a young man who turns the Chief Minister after his father who was the CM passes away due to an illness. The film shows how Mahesh Babu’s character Bharath Ram makes several changes in the system, one of them is increasing the penalties of traffic rule offenders.
Netizens sharing hilarious memes and comments on the same that the government saw Bharat Ane Nenu to take the decision. One Twitter user wrote, “#MotorVehiclesAct2019 Ths happn when u r #prolevel fan of south indian movie #BHARATHaneNENU #MaheshBabu”, while another one wrote, “I think the government has watched #BHARATHaneNENU over the traffic rules.”
Directed by Siva Koratala, Bharat Ane Nenu also starred Kiara Advani in the lead and Prakash Raj as the antagonist. The film which was released in 2018, was a box office hit and earned praises from all quarters.
