Abhishek Varman directorial period drama ‘ Kalank’ featuring an ensemble star cast of Varun Dhawan, Alia Bhatt, Sonakshi Sinha, Aditya Roy Kapur, Madhuri Dixit, and Sanjay Dutt has performed poorly after a very good start in its first extended week at the box office. The film fell sharply after it witnessed the biggest opening day of the year. ‘Kalank’ hit the screens on April 17.
According to the latest report on the Boxofficeindia.com, the film has managed to collect a total of Rs 74 crore in its first extended week at the box office. The film did better in the overseas market with the week looking to close at around $6.25 million helped by the Easter holidays.
The collection of the film is going nowhere with the released of the much-awaited Hollywood film ‘Avengers: Endgame’ that hit the screens today. The film has witnessed historic pre-release bookings.
Set in the 1940s, in the pre-independence era, the film is a period drama which tells the tale of six characters mired with each other in the threads of love and revenge. The film boasts of enormous larger than life sets, grand music, and dance performances, and stupendous acting from a popular star cast.
Directed by Abhishek Varman, ‘Kalank’ also stars Kunal Khemu, Kriti Sanon, Kiara Advani and Hiten Tejwani in pivotal roles. The film was touted as producer Karan Johar’s most ambitious project.
