Richa Chadha to turn producer with a boarding-school drama

A year ago, Richa Chadha and one of her close buddies were seen together at the NFDC Film Bazaar in Goa on the sidelines of the International Film Festival of India. The duo was pitching a story to find a producing partner for their film. A year later, it turns out that Richa’s plans to add another feather to her cap and become a film producer have finally taken shape. The actress is expected to roll out her first production early next year.

Confirming the news, “Immediately after the Film Bazaar last year, my friend, who I am working with on this film, went into a strict rewriting process. She attended a couple of screenwriting labs in Mexico and Europe. A year later, she’s now close to finalising the script for the film and we should be on floors by the first quarter of 2020. She is a college friend and we are really keen to do this together. The film is about a girl who goes to a boarding school, and how she comes of age. Gender differences, the dynamic she shares with her mother and the entry of a boy in her life add to the drama. I was afraid to talk about this project earlier, but I’ve realised that life is very short and there is never a good time or a bad time to start. It’s the best thing to start doing what you feel passionately for.”
