Thalapathy aka Vijay completed 27 years in Kollywood industry

Kollywood superstar Vijay is one of the most-loved actors. Fondly called as Thalapathy by fans, the 45-year-old actor has completed 27 years in the film industry. While fans are pouring their love on the south superstar, the hashtag #27YrsOfKwEmperorVIJAY is trending on Twitter.

This is not a surprise, the popular actor has a huge fan base and is loved by all.

The actor was born to Tamil filmmaker SA Chandrasekhar and playback singer Shoba. The talented Vijay made his first appearance on big screen at the age of 10 as a child artist in the film Vetri (1984) that was helmed by his father.

At the age of 18 he started featuring in major roles. In 1992’s Naalaiya Theerpu, the actor got his first major break. He gained the name Thalapathy after his 1994 film Rasigan in which he sported the ‘Ilaiya Thalapathy’ title along with his name. The nickname was soon picked up by his fans and media.

He rose to fame with the romantic film  Poove Unakkaga. The movie was later remade in Hindi (Badhai Ho Badhai), Telugu (Subhakankshalu) and Kannada ( Ee Hrudaya Ninagagi ). The movie went on to complete a silver jubilee by completing 250 days at the box office.

The multi-talented actor also doubles up as a singer. He has lent his voice for many composers like Illayaraja, ARR, Deva, Vidyasagar, S.A.Raj Kumar, amongst others.
